In 2018, I started a design studio from which to sell my textile design prints from. I successfully created and sold three seasonal collections of fashion print artwork, through pop-up events, national print shows, freelancing work, and also via my website that I built. Additionally, I partnered with an agent who traveled the world to fashion houses, showing the collections and selling prints to labels such as Anthropology, Calvin Klein, Kohls and more.
The Website
Although greyleighstudio.com is no longer an active ecomm site, this video walkthrough gives you an idea of the site's look and feel. I built and ran the site using squarespace.
Mid-scroll on the Spring 2021 scarf-prints category page- featuring large blocks of print artwork images. Each print is clickable- taking you to its product description page (PDP).
Mid-scroll on the Spring 2021 collection categories page. Each category features a representation image, as well as a description and a CTA button, which takes you directly to that category's page. Navigation shown in the side-pop-out menu, accessible through the hamburger menu icon always found at the top left on the site header.
On the product description page (PDP), the user finds a collection of images- from the flat watermarked print, which is zoomable, as well as a few mock-ups of the print featured on different types of garments and products for context. Page also includes a price, description, and a CTA button to add to cart.
The site featured a few different forms- this one was a simple NDA form to protect piracy before the viewer can gain access to the full print collection library. Other forms were: contact-us email form and a newsletter subscribe sign-up form.
The Textile Prints
A sampling of various prints from my Spring 2021 collection. All prints were made by myself, and were sold as exclusive licenses. I used a variety of methods to create my print artworks, including analog and digital mediums. Each artwork file was built production-ready, with a full repeat, and color-separated into layers in a PSD zipped file.
