A Kansas City based hair salon, Marsalis Styles, was in need of rebranding and a social media marketing strategy for expanding their client reach. In collaboration with another designer, Andrea James, with myself as the lead designer and project manager; we worked with the client to define what Marsalis Styles is all about.
Below is a side-by-side of the brand's assets: on the left are the starting logos, and to the right are the new logos.
The main objectives of the rebranding were: to grow the client base, using Instagram as the primary means for reaching new clients. And then to gain a more “all walks of life” diverse clientele; specifically reaching more men as a way to increase profit margins. Keeping these main goals in mind, we established the following key attributes to which we focused the brand's identity around:

Welcoming, Confident, Joyful, Modern & Healing.

To accompany the kit of parts of the branding package, I created a repeatable pattern featuring the silhouettes from the logo mark. The above pattern, All Walks of Life, can be used to accent the branding materials, and to add joyful splashes of color across the brand's platform.

The client is using instagram as her primary means of reaching customers, and will function in place of a traditional website. We created a variety of starter posts for her newly rebranded profile & the official Marsalis Styles social relaunch.
To set up the client with her long-term goals for her brick & mortar salon, we created some salon environment mock-ups so that she could see how the logos, colors & pattern could work in the salon environment.
