a tool for voters
Orbitropolis is an app conceived around the idea for voter's cliff-notes. The intention is that the app would be a user-friendly tool for the voter, aiming at accomplishing 3 things:
1) to engage the voter all elections, not just the "big" ones
2) to educate/inform the voter on the candidates & ballot issues for the upcoming elections in an easy-to digest, cliff's notes kind of way
3) to strip away political assumptions and bias using policy-centered points of view, and focusing on transparency and facts
Orbitropolis onboarding screens are shown above. The orbit is a concept that intends to reframe the voter's political mindset. It takes the user's actual opinions on real current policy issues, and then puts them into a specific position on the orbit to show where they stand in proximity to certain political figures that they can vote for or against. The aim is to strip away political party bias, and to cause the voter to focus on individual issues instead.
I painted the image for the landing screen with alcohol inks on yupo paper, emphasizing the idea of transparency and political fluidness with the inks. I wanted to use a non-political color palette, and specifically yellow for it's optimistic, and welcoming vibes. For accents throughout the app, I used aqua, and a subtle shade of lilac, intended to symbolize the coming together of traditional "red vs. blue."

A selection of various screens from the UX design, including the profile page, the big picture orbit page, vote notes, and point of view policy assessment shown above. The app is navigated through with the icon menu at the bottom of the screen.

The Figma prototype is embedded below so that you can try the UX firsthand.
